Dear ESPN Commentators,
As a fan of basketball, I feel Stephen Curry has proved he is the best in the NBA. He has earned his respect and showed you he will not give up. Many times the odds where against him and he overcame them. Unlike most NBA stars, Curry didn't receive a scholarship from a top division one school. The coaches overlooked him because of his size. This was a hard pill to swallow but he used it as motivation. Gratefully, Curry received a full scholarship for basketball to Davidson college. This was a small division one Christian school located in North Carolina. While you were talking about the top freshmen in college, this kid was in the gym working on his game. He finally got your attention and some exposure his senior year when he and his team reached the NCAA elite eight in 2008.

In 2009, Stephen Curry was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the Seventh pick in the NBA Draft. You felt he wouldn't be a factor in the NBA considering his lack of muscle, aggressiveness, and athleticism. This would put him at a huge disadvantage on defense because he would not be able to guard anybody. What does that have to do with his skills? None of the those pertain to his ability to shoot and handle the basketball. He came in the league red hot, knocking down shots and getting his teammates involved. Still ,not many knew Curry because his team was at the bottom of their conference and one of the worst in the league. In 2011 Curry suffered major ankle injuries by tweaking them. You referred to his ankles as "tissue ankles" because they tore easily. Any faith you had in him was quickly lost. You swore that there would be know answer to this problem and his career would soon be over.

In 2014 Curry came back strong as ever. he trained hard in the offseason to get back in shape and on the court. He got himself stronger and improved his shooting to lead the warriors to their first playoffs in years. He broke down the defense with his handles and made unbelievable plays while fans watched in shock. He set a record for the most threes in any season by any player. Warriors fans felt he was the best in the game. By the end of the season, many people started becoming familiar with the name Stephen Curry. After this season you began to talk about his skills and what he has had to overcome and achieve to reach this point.
In 2015, Curry won the most valuable player award receiving the most votes from fans that felt he was the best player. Him and his team rallied on to have the best record in their conference and the entire NBA. you felt these where great achievements but his job was not finished. The warriors defeated everyone in their conference and advanced to the NBA finals. Curry led his team to defeat the opposing team 4-2 in a best of 7 series to win the NBA championship.http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2498408-warriors-vs-cavaliers-game-6-score-and-twitter-reaction-from-2015-nba-finals
This proves a lot because many people may contend for a championship but few win. Everyone dreams of winning a championship.
Is there anything else can you criticize or try to take from him? You should give credit when it's due. It is clear that that he belongs in the NBA and among the best who have played the game. You can not judge a book by its cover, only after you have read it, you know the truth. In other words, you judged Curry because of his appearance and didn't give him a chance. Curry has showed despite his disadvantages he will still be successful. True Talent cannot be denied.
Thanks,
Tarik Thompson
